Fashion Intervention

THIS IS AN INTERVENTION.Riri honey of late you seem to have become obsessed with roses, and as someone who is concerned about your well being,I feel like it's my responsiblity to tell you:ENOUGH WITH THE ROSES ALREADY!I mean there's only so many times a girl can get away with wearing flowery embellishments, and you miss are pushing your luck! Also ditch the red, there are other colours to choose from you know.I get that by embracing brighter colours, you're showing to the world that you've moved on from the domestic violence incident in 2009,and are now in a happy place, but that does'nt mean everytime you step out of the house, you look like a walking billboard for your album/the florists'.

I am however liking this Dior haute couture gown on her(at the 2011 Brit Awards). How cute are those shoes??
P.S.-It's time to ditch the raven hair, which will soon have me seeing red(with anger)

Born This Way.

Ok so as you may or may not know,my first ever post was on Lady Gaga(yes,I was crazy about her back then,'back then' being the operative words). But half a year has passed since then, and as a friend pointed out today, let alone being a shrine,I haven't had a single post on her since! So I think it is only fitting for me to dedicate this post to Her Holy Gaga-ness,what with her new album coming out,and she being on the brink of world domination yet again. So in the past 6 months lots has happened,to Lady Gaga that is!...

she wore a meat dress to the VMA's,

stood up for gay rights(don't ask don't tell),

her stylist and creative director for Vogue Hommes Japan,Nicola Formichetti(the male equivalent of Anna Della Russo?), became one third of the creative team at Thierry Muggler,

was on the cover of Vanity Fair(not an easy feat!!),

got the ultimate honour in fashion,by landing on the cover of American Vogue(Anna Wintour is a tough cookie to crack),

and finally, came out with an awesome single 'Born This Way'(also the name of her new album).

Also she walked,or rather was carried by scantily clad men,on the Grammy red carpet in a faux egg.WOW,just when you thought she could'nt beat the 'meat' dress.

What were they thinking?(Golden Globes Edition)

...well obviously they were'nt,what else would explain these disastrous sartorial choices at the 2011 Golden Globes.

Ermm,is this an attempt to promote the Green Hornet and Green Lantern movies?the dress is not bad per say,but not loving it on Angie(for once the usually effervescent Ms. Jolie had no one turning 'green' with envy)

The picture speaks for itself.Mrs. Warren Beatty(Annete Benning) just because you're a certain age does not mean you can get away with wearing, uhmm whatever it is that you were wearing.Take a page out of Dame Helen's (Mirren) book, and dress better!

Firstly, the length of this pink Lanvin concoction is all wrong,it should've ended at the knees.Secondly it most certainly is'nt the right dress for the gorgeous Julianne Moore. It makes her look like a frumpy mess, and the colour clashes with her raven hair.

Leighton Meester looks matronly in this Burberry Prorsum gown. From the hair to the bag,she gets it all wrong.

On her big night(she won best actress drama for 'Black Swan'),Natalie Portman looked nice inspite of her dress. After months of wearing Dior and Rodarte' while promoting 'Black Swan',this surrealistic Victor and Rolf gown was clearly not the right choice.Maybe her stylist thought the rose would take the attention away from her belly?

Best Dressed: Golden Globes 2011

Sandra Bullock looks lovely(and years younger) in this pale pink Jenny Packham number. Also,is it just me or does she look a lot like Rachel Bilson here?

Anne Hathaway looks like a bonafide glamazon in this shimmery Armani Prive' gown(which in my opinion seems a bit inspired by Balmain, notice the power shoulders?)

Eva Longoria has the whole old Hollywood thing down pat in Zac Posen.

Halle Berry looks smoking in this lingerie inspired Nina Ricci dress.WOW, a break-up does really do a body good!

While i'm not a fan of her flowy Valentino gown,Michelle Williams seems to have nailed the whole breezy 70's flower child vibe that seems to be dominating runways this season(Mia Farrow would be proud).

While i'm not too sure about this cut-out Versace number,January Jones does complete justice to it and how.Though this dress is probably meant for somebody not as well endowed as ms. Jones, ahem.

What Were They thinking?

Eeeesh. What was she thinking?!There is no way in hell that Jessica Alba can pull off the mini gown with long sweeping train look that seems to have swept over Hollywood. If the gorgeous January Jones could'nt do justice to this look at the Emmys, what makes Mrs. Cash Warren think she can? From the hair to the sagging boobs(that's what motherhood'll do to you),this look has disaster written all over it.Next!

Its about time that Katy Perry ditched the whole pin up look, especially if it means she's going to parade around in cheap tarty excuses for clothes.I mean c'mon Katy, you can do better,so much better.Everything from her hideous polka dotted wrap dress to the heels(which would've been perfect had it not been for those fug straps) make her look like Betty Boop on a bad day.And don't even get me started on that tacky hair colour.Katy honey if you can upgrade boyfriends(from unstable mess Travis McCoy to the charmingly funny Russel Brand), you can most certainly upgrade your wardrobe too!

Not like Leah Michelle's my style icon or something, nor am I particularly fond of her sartorial sense, but c'mon, you gotta feel bad for a girl who looks like something that the ruffle monster threw up on the biggest night for tv actors.Much like her alter ego Rachel Berry, the girl is working her butt off to gain it girl status, what with the newly slim figure and bangin bangs(I know,I know that cheesy adjective could've been avoided, but c'mon people mistakes happen)and it all comes undone with one bad fashion choice and that too on the biggest night on tv.Tch tch. However gleeks need not feel bad, as she can still redeem herself as soon as she sacks the buffoon she calls her stylist and books an appointment with Ms. Zoe,pronto.

Best (and Worst) Dressed- July

Ok so I usually love how Brit it girl and model extraordinaire Agyness Deyn dresses, but she goes terribly wrong with this Anna Sui ensemble.I mean as standalone pieces the clothes and accessories are great, but together they make her look like a royal mess.

The ever so gorgeous Blake Lively looks exactly that-gorgeous in this summer dress by Chanel at the Chanel Haute Couture F/W 2011 runway show.Though this dress is a complete 180 from what Chanel usually does(read:overdose of black and white, tweed, bows, ruffles, et al),it still manages to make Blake look like a million bucks and bring some of her cool California girl charm to the Parisian runways.

Ok next we have Whitney Port from 'The City'.She looks stunning in a cutout Matthew Williamson. It's good to see her endorsing the pretty wave that has swept over young Hollywood.Whatever will the Kristen Stewarts of the world and other goth-zillas do now.

Even though I adore what Leighton Meester is wearing here(courtesy Chanel), I am somehow not loving it on her.Maybe it's because I've gotten so accustomed to Blair Waldorf's preppy style. But even then not loving it on Leighton, who almost always never fails to impress.

Whoaaaa. Is that the same Ugly Betty we all know and love. She looks vava voom in this Alice+Olivia LBD.Is it just me or could America Ferrera give the Giselles of the world a run for their money.

Best Dressed!

Ok so it's about time that i did a segment on the best dressed (starlets) on the international shores (like duh, considering India does not have any stylish starlets: an item girl/model wannabe does not a starlet make)!

So first on our list is the gorgeous Rachel Bilson wearing a vintage jumpsuit, which by the looks of it could easily pass of as a Chanel (hello, black and white with the bow and frill detail, could it be more Chanel-esque)

Next we have the ever so perky LC (Lauren Conrad for those of you not too familiar with Laguna Beach/The Hills) wearing a Plastic Island getup , putting a twist to the ensemble many a stylish ladies swear by-the trench coat and oversized glasses combo!

Ok so don't hate me for doing this, but I think Miley Cyrus does qualify to be on this list with her outfit for this year's Oscars!!I mean come on people the girl does look pretty!!and more than the girl what makes this look work for me is the gorgeous Jenny Packham gown...just adore the corsetted bodice(inspired by Dolce and Gabbana , now are we?)

And lastly we have my current style obsession Taylor Momsen(I fell head over heels in love with her style ever since lil Jenny Humphry decided to go all badass on us!)Here she is rocking her trademark emo/goth ,exposed panty-hose look!Adore.
